Dear Verizon, Why Lie?
Monday, January 5, 2009 at 08:10AM Dear Verizon Wireless,
When I called you in November, I asked you a simple question:
When does my contract end?
And 'you' personified by the pleasing voice of a mature woman, answered, "January 19th."
"Thank you!" I said with a smile, so happy to have a direct answer.
"Is there anything else I can help you with?"
"No, that will be all."
I have spent those days since November axiously awaiting the 19th of this month. That was my calendar day to reward myself with a shiny, new iPhone. I was going to miss you, Verizon, because you've been nothing but good to me. I've never had a problem.
Until Today.
Thorough as I am, I checked my account online. I was going to call you again and ask if maybe I could skip out on our relationship a week early. What did I find?
You know.
Under my plan it stated: Contract Ends March 19, 2009.
March 19! What you say?!
Liars. Had I gotten my iPhone this month, I would have been slapped with a several hundred dollar fee. I know this, because Google has shown me the other customers you've lied to about their contract end date.
Verizon, I was going to miss you. I thought you were a great company.
Now? I can't wait to leave.
Liar.
Verizon's customer service says it will only cost me $65 to skip out today.
True or false?
We'll see.
