Gaming / Plotting
Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 10:21AM I am still gaming.
I'm seriously thinking about pre-ordering Aion Online. It'd get me into beta and it stands a chance of being good. However, lest we forget the tragedy that was Tabula Rasa. Superb Beta. Great launch. Died on the vine.
Do I regret playing Tabula Rasa? No. It was a great game. Tabula Rasa died because it had no end game. Once you reached level 50 that was it. They never updated, expanded... nothing.
It would be a return to the 'monthy fee' game. PWI (Perfect World) is great, but it's crack cocaine in the truest since. That game encourages using real money, and Bianca has lots of real money. Real money that isn't buying bourbon, or skirts, or ... whatever I was wasting it on earlier.
Anyway, I'd like to get back to wasting it on other stuff now.
Plus, PWI will still be 'free', so it doesn't mean I have to quit. I can still make an appearance for territory wars on the weekend and to do my dailies and keep leveling.
So... on Friday, most likely, I'll go pick up a couple pre-orders / beta keys for Aion and check it out.
I am writing / preparing to write.
I've gone back to working on a story that will take place at Bheymil mansion. The idea I've come up with this time has more meat to it. Joe's actually been a big help in that manner. He read a lot of fantasy as a child and has more material to draw from than I do. I needed to create a source of conflict for one of my characters and straight away Joe is like, "Her mother had a sister who was actually more powerful than her, but her parents held her back. So she's resentful about that and hates all her daughters."
Awesome! I totally don't think like that. My biggest weakest is that I like everything to be smooth sailing, so all my stories are mostly one long self-masturbatory freewheel. Which... I enjoy! However, in a time such as now, I'd like this one to be filled with more 'gritty reality' and less, 'Bianca having a daydream.'
