Music Under Review

The music I like doesn't get played on the radio. There isn't even a category for most of it for a grammy. I like obscure stuff peppered by some pleasant popular stuff.

My discovery process is greatly helped by the awesomeness that is Pandora.

I get a bunch of albums by artists that have caught my ear via Pandora and listen to them over and over. I try not to rate a song till I've heard it at least three times. Then, if I suddenly knows the words to a song and mumble along - 4 stars. If I suddently want to hear the song - 5 stars. It seems I have to really hear a song in my car to find the 4-5 star one. Three stars in just fine, could listen to it at any time. Two stars is "you're pushing it. You're all right, but not right now." One star... I don't rate new music one star. I delete it. One stars are for songs that have been with me for years, I can't stand hearing it anymore, but in a random shuffle while cleaning the house, it could get a pass. Oh, and songs that are under 1 minute interludes that hold an album together.

These are the artist / albums getting the 3-listen pass this month.

Angra - Aurora Consurgens, Fireworks, Holy Land, Rebirth, Temple of Shadows
Dream Theater - Awake, Octavarium, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
Iron Maiden - Brave New World
Dark Moor - Autumnal (I really wish I could get ahold of Beyond the Sea, but I can't pay $40. Just no.)
Avantasia - The Scarecrow, The Metal Opera, The Metal Opera Pt II
Sade - Soldier of Love
Cynic - Traced in Air

Yes, one of those things is not like the others. *chuckles*

If you'll recall, my last '3-listen pass' was Thunderstone, Masterplan, Symphony X, Subway to Sally, Pyramaze, and Lady Gaga. (Wait? What?!)

I'm just trying to find more music to fit into this obscure genre I've never heard before but love so dearly.

Minus the clearly odd albums out.
