Do Different Things
Monday, February 8, 2010 at 07:38PM Iteration 1: Practicing pretty much the same thing in consecutive order
Realization 1: Brain will shut down. Learning degrades.
Solution: Do different things.
I'm still going to reject that this means I have to play different songs. I'm deliciously persistant like that.
The song I'm playing is 12 pages in length. Not sure how this will work for shorter pieces, but by then, I'll have this one to switch off. I've learned up to page 6 in this month, but I have 6 more.
Using random.org I generated a few sequences. I'm playing a different page each day (to make it lively). Once I've made myself vaguely familiar with each page, then I'll probably settle on a page a week, only reviewing pages 1-5 as a single playthrough, not practicing it or spending any more mental energy on it.
I'll see how that goes.
